Healthy Walking Routes

Enjoy the Monmouthshire countryside while experiencing the benefits of a healthy walk.

These fairly short, easy access walks were developed with the Fit4Life walking groups as a follow on to the Exercise Referral Scheme at the leisure centres.

There are 10 walks in the Chepstow/Caldicot area, 9 centred on Abergavenny and 4 in Monmouth.

Many of the routes use level paths with gates rather than stiles. Some are more challenging, with slopes, steps, rough or muddy ground or stiles. Information is given on the route card for each walk so you can decide whether it will suit you.

Detailed instructions are given to help you follow each walk and there is some additional information about points of interest along the way. Maps are also provided, with the Monmouth and Chepstow/Caldicot routes shown on aerial photos, making it easier to get a feeling for the area you are walking in.
