You are here: Inspire me > About Monmouthshire > Towns and villages
The towns and villages of Monmouthshire each have their own distinct character. (Abergavenny as a foodie mecca, Caldicot as the capital of the low lying Gwent Levels, Chepstow as a sporting hub, Monmouth as a town of legends - historic and present day - and Usk, Monmouthshire's award-winning town of flowers). All are small enough to walk around with ease, but big enough to hold your attention for a day.
Despite the challenges of a pandemic and changing consumer behaviour, our high streets are still very much alive, thanks in no small part to a bunch of hard-working shopkeepers. Bustling with people of all ages enjoying the shopping experience. Characterised by names you won't have seen elsewhere. Shop windows which display the fruits of the current season, or which give you an insight into the proprietor's passion. Some shops sell local products. Some are specialist outlets for products from elsewhere. All offer a personal service.
