About

Join MonLife Countryside on this free 4.5 mile (7 km) walk crossing the Castle Meadows on the edge of Abergavenny before following fields close to the River Usk towards Govilon. Return via sections of old railway line and the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. 

A few stiles but no steep gradients. One flight of steps. Bring your own refreshments and a drink. Assistance dogs only please. There is no charge for this activity. Wear stout shoes or boots and bring waterproof clothing.

Park in the Byefield Lane car park off Tudor Street in Abergavenny. Meet in the bottom right corner of the main car park near to the entrance to Castle Meadows. OS grid reference- SO 296 140. The timings for each walk is only an approximate guide. The actual time may vary depending on the weather, the terrain, the number of stiles as well as the number and ability of the walkers.

Please email marklangley@monmouthshire.gov.uk if you find out on the day of the walk that you cannot make it.

Booking is essential. Anyone not on the list will not be able to join the walk. 

Cancellation. Please let us know as soon as possible if you have to cancel so that we can offer the places to other walkers. MonLife Countryside Access Team reserve the right to cancel the walk due to adverse weather, illness of leaders or any other unforeseen reason. 

Please supply the names, email addresses and telephone numbers of participants so that contact can be made in case of cancellation.
