Wye Valley Chamber Music’s Summer Residency returns from 22-28th July 2024 with three public performances in St Briavels Church on Wed 24 Jul, 7pm; Treowen Manor Open Day on Sat 27 Jul; and Hellens Manor on Sun 28 Jul, 3pm. 

The Summer Residency is a joyous celebration of chamber music, where the talented next generation of musicians perform with seasoned artists and tutors. The musicians take residency in Treowen Manor (outside Monmouth), rehearsing together and taking masterclasses, before performing in three events across the Wye Valley.

Audiences will be treated to some great chamber music from Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn and Dvořák. The evening concert on Wednesday 24 July in St Briavels features Beethoven’s Sonata for Violin and Piano in G, Op.96, Dvořák’s Piano Trio No 4 in E minor, Op.90 ‘Dumky’, and Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in E flat, Op.12. The afternoon concert on Sunday 28 July at Hellen’s Manor includes Beethoven’s Piano Trio in E flat, Op.1 No.1; Schubert String Quintet in C, D956 (Mov 1&2), and Chausson’s Piano Trio in G minor, Op.3. Tickets for these concerts are £20 each, or £5 for students.

The Open Day on Saturday 27 July features masterclasses in the morning, followed by a delicious lunch in the beautiful surroundings of Treowen Manor. The afternoon sees performances from our student ensembles and tutors, including Faure’s Piano Quartet in G minor, Op45 (Mov 1 & 2) and Dvořák’s Bagatelles, Op.47. Tickets are £55, or £20 students, including lunch and refreshments.
