About
At Penhein Glamping, eight luxurious Alachigh (alla-cheeg) tents are tucked away in a secluded 3 acre wood surrounded by fields and meadows in the Monmouthshire hills. Custom-made to keep you warm and dry, with wonderfully comfy beds, an en suite loo, wood-burning stove, running water and a well-stocked kitchen, the tents at Penhein have everything you need to feel at home in the great outdoors. Three even have their own shower immediately outside the door!
This peaceful coppiced wood on the family-run farm is also home to Petro, a huge communal tent, Chehel Sotoun, a stunning indoor/outdoor entertainment space underneath a stretch canvas in the centre of the site, a shared shower block with underfloor heating, hot monsoon showers and a roll-top bath, and a separate cooking facility (fondly known as the ‘Cheat’s Kitchen’) for those not up for the culinary adventure of cooking on each tent's wood-burning stove or fire pit.
Beyond the glampsite, guests are free to roam the 450 acres of farmland, wandering down nature trails, enjoying magnificent views of the River Severn or taking part in one of the many adventures on site, including clay pigeon shooting, foraging, axe throwing or bushcraft amongst many others to choose from. It is also close to the fabulous Forest of Dean and Wye Valley where further adventures await for all ages.
For information: Penhein prices range from £147 per unit per night to £215 per unit per night according to season. Minimum stay 2 nights. Each of our Alachighs sleeps up to four, with a large comfy sofabed for an extra adult or two small children if required.
Prices are all inclusive – no extras for wood, kindling, cots, highchairs, bedding or towels. The kitchen is fully kitted out with all the pots, pans, crockery you need, plus herbs, spices, salt and pepper to get the cooking started. To sum up, Penhein provides not just the kitchen sink but the washing up brush and liquid too!
Penhein is committed to providing an authentic yet fabulous camping experience for their guests, complete with rustic charm and rural abandon but not without a few little luxuries and some home comforts. Top of the list of things to bring? An adventurous spirit!
