Congratulations to Ian and Sue Mabberley at Nant-y-bedd garden on winning the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Partner Garden of the Year for 2022. The garden showed its popularity by winning in a public vote over 220 other gardens in the UK.
Voters were wowed by the sense of peace, privacy and tranquility you find at Nant-y-bedd, hidden away deep in the Black Mountains near Abergavenny. The 10-acre organic garden is located 1200 feet up within the Brecon Beacons National Park, and slowly but surely the garden has grown and evolved in the 41 years Sue has tended it (aided by Ian for the last 25).
If you want to visit the gardens for yourself, openings are every Wednesday - Saturday from June 1st to September 30th, and from 11am - 5pm. New for 2023 is a chance to tour the garden with its designer Sue on select Thursdays! Hear all about how the garden came into being and has evolved over the last 40+ years in a fascinating two hour trip around the gardens.

Monmouthshire is lucky enough to be full of fantastic gardens for you to visit, with Open Garden events across the spring, summer and autumn (plus the ever popular Usk Open Gardens at the end of June).
