If you go down to the Wye Valley woods this summer, you're in for a big surprise as the play site at Whitestone has been completely redesigned and renovated. With natural play in mind, and aware that trees in the area needed felling due to larch disease, Natural Resources Wales (NRW) used the timber from these infected trees to create log bridges, forts, tunnels & stepping logs across the site.
With the existing picnic benches and woodland walks, it all comes together to create a beautiful site waiting to be explored. Then, if the exploration gets a bit too much, you can relax and take in the beautiful views up the Wye Valley.
Have a look at our Whitestone Picnic Site page for more ideas on great walks in the area, as well as how to get there.
