Monmouthshire continues to shine in the culinary world as both The Walnut Tree and The Whitebrook have retained their Michelin Stars for 2024. This means they have kept their stars for fourteen years (Walnut Tree) and ten years (Whitebrook) in a row, both the longest in Wales.

An extra Green Star for The Whitebrook
There was even more success for The Whitebrook as they were one of only six UK restaurants to newly be awarded a Michelin Green Star (and the only one in Wales that aso has a Michelin Star). These highlight "restaurants at the forefront of the industry when it comes to their sustainable practices...combining culinary excellence with outstanding eco-friendly commitments".
Head Chef Chris Harrod has always been inspired by the beautiful Wye Valley surroundings, growing heritage vegetables in the garden kitchen, foraging in the local landscape and working closely with artisan growers and producers. It's great to see this sustainable ethos being recognised.

Fourteen Years a Michelin Star for The Walnut Tree
Head chef Shaun Hill clearly knows what he is doing at the Walnut Tree, having retained his Michelin Star for fourteen years. He is, to quote Michelin, "The quintessential chef’s chef [who] has a great understanding of flavours and balance". This restaurant, based in the countryside near Abergavenny, has long been at the heart of the Welsh food scene. To quote the Michelin review again, "It's hard not to love Walnut Tree".
Congratulations to Shaun and all the team.

The Whitebrook, going from strength to strength for ten years
It's ten years and counting for the Michelin starred Whitebrook, which has held a star for almost as long as it has been run by Chris Harrod. Based deep in the rural Wye Valley, it is "the very definition of a destination restaurant". You can lose yourself in the wooded idyll of this valley, far from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Just enjoy fantastic, award winning food (including a "particularly creative vegetarian menu") in the isolated woodland setting.
