Monmouthshire once again showed itself to be the Food Capital of Wales this January as the Black Bear Inn near Usk was voted the top Gastropub in Wales on the annual Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropub list. Ranked #32 overall in the UK, it's the only Welsh restaurant to make the list.
Voters especially praised the 'cosy feel' of this restaurant in the Monmouthshire village of Bettws Newydd (near Usk). They also had great things to say about the locally-sourced and seasonal à la carte menu, plus the 'exceptional skill' shown in putting together the drinks menu.
Votes for the Estrella Damm top 50 Gastropubs list are collected from over 350 leading industry professionals geographically spread across the UK, so to make the list is a great honour.
Congratulations to Josh, Hannah, Chris and all the team at The Black Bear.
