About
The historic mill in Mathern, near Chepstow will be open to visitors from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th May 2025.
It is a watermill dating back to the late 17th century. Once part of the St. Pierre estate the mill continued to serve the community of Mathern and surrounding area until the 1960s. Much of the Victorian machinery remains in situ and visitors can get a good idea of what the mill was like and how it worked.
We have a lot of information about past occupants of the mill who were not only millers, but also farmers and publicans. There are many stories to tell about the building and the people who lived and worked there for over three centuries. This year we are taking part in "Mills on the Air". Chepstow Radio Society will be on site both days linking up, on the airways, with other mills in the UK and beyond.
