Great news for Abergavenny as The Angel Hotel is ranked the Best Foodie Hotel in the UK for 2025 in The Times travel section.

Angel Hotel Food

The Times praised the sensitively restored design of the restored 18th-century coaching Inn, plus the 'extremely comfortable beds', 'charming bedrooms', 'statement fireplaces' and 'parquet flooring as lustrous as a conker'.

But most of the praise was for the food, "The Angel's superpower" as the Times puts it. There's freshly baked cakes and bread from their bakery over the road, generous portion sizes, seasonal dishes, locally sourced meat from Neil Powell butchers and (of course) the 'showstopper high tea'.

Breakfast at The Angel

And that's not to mention the Michelin Star quality food at their nearby sister restaurant The Walnut Tree, the beautiful artwork throughout the hotel ("The Oak Room...doubles as an art gallery"), and The Angel's location in the heart of Abergavenny and "prime walking country".

The Oak Room Restaurant

Congratulations to the whole team at The Angel, and long may it continue!
