Countryside Guided Walks

Guided walks with the MonLife Countryside Access Team

The Monmouthshire Countryside Access Team arrange a series of guided walks in the beautiful Monmouthshire Countryside. The walks, led by trained volunteers, will take you on journeys of discovery in the Monmouthshire Countryside. They vary in length from 3 to 10 miles, but are usually around 6 or 7 miles. They will take you through fields and woodlands and along lanes and rivers, encountering points of interest on the way. Some level of fitness will be needed for the walks, but you will not be on a route march and leaders will adjust the pace to suit the group. This is a great opportunity to keep fit, improve your wellbeing, make new friends and find out more about our fantastic county in the safe hands of our knowledgeable leaders.

Magor and Undy Moors - Saturday 15th March (10.00am)

This 5 miles (8 km) walk starts in Undy in front of St Mary’s Church. It will follow paths between Reens and joins the Wales Coast Path for a while before turning back inland on a circular route to Undy. On the walk you will pass “Noah’s Ark”, follow part of the original medieval sea wall, pass the foundations of a mansion and site of a ruined chapel and see a WW2 machine gun emplacement. There are views across the Severn Estuary to Avonmouth and “Denny Island”, the only registered common land in the parish of Magor. You should also spot a variety of local bird life. This is a fairly level walk.

It should take about 2.5 hours to complete.

Three Churches Walk - Sunday April 6th (10:30am)

On this 6 mile (9.5 km) walk we visit Newchurch, Wolvesnewton, and Kilgwrrwg Churches, walking in a beautiful area with fantastic views.

It should take about 3.5 hours to complete.
